How to Make More Money Playing Live!

“We are excited to support the mission of New Roots and engage with up-and-coming female artists!” — Griffin Eaton, Founder / CEO of Juke

Introducing, Jukethe first Jukebox for Live Music!  We are so excited to share this unique new resource with our New Roots community.

Juke is a streamlined, seamless platform that allows audience members to make live song requests, browse song lists, send tips, and more.  The Juke platform is perfect for any artist who is looking to increase their earning potential for an upcoming gig.  Plus, all artists receive 100% of their tips, and it’s FREE to join.

Here at New Roots we are adamant about helping artists maximize their performance and capitalize on their worth. As part of this mission, we are constantly on the lookout for new resources that leverage an artist’s abilities to increase their financial gain.

Part of being an independent artist is playing live music and cultivating a fan base. Performing at a public venue requires you to have an extensive setlist and also ensures that you are flexible with song requests (this is also a good way to collect extra tips!).

The challenge most artists face is communicating their setlist to audience members, and accepting tips/requests in real time. Not to mention, most live music is performed at bars, restaurants, and other public venues, so there is little to no connection to audience members or fans.

Juke is a match made in heaven for any artist that plays live.

Here is a short video on how it works:

We took a moment to speak with the Founder and CEO of Juke, Griffin Eaton. Here’s what we learned…

1. What is Juke’s mission and why was it created?

As a result of streaming platforms, the importance of 'live' for musicians has never been greater. For a musician, their shows are the best opportunity to strengthen relationships with existing fans and build new ones. It is our mission to help artists maximize every show by bringing them a new line of revenue and tools to turn listeners into fans.

2. Who is Juke built/intended for?

Juke was built for artists. It was built to help empower artists and give them the financial freedom to more easily pursue their artistic goals. Most musicians are not business-minded and they end up not fighting for themselves for the opportunity to perform. We have created a platform to help artists make money doing what they are already doing (and on their terms).

3. How does the app engage audience members?

The app allows the artist to set the rules, so to speak. They can pick the song list, determine how many requests they'll take, set minimums on certain songs (*cough Wagon Wheel *cough), take dedications, and more. Then during the show the audience will scan a QR code to select from those options.

4. How do artists begin using Juke?

They can take 2 minutes to sign up for free with this link!

5. How do you see Juke changing the way artists perform live going forward?

The artists will guide us. We are building tools for them. We have had jam bands ask for the ability to play 'tic-tac-toe' against the crowd until there is one fan standing. So we will continue to listen to the needs of our artists and build to their needs.

If you’re a female artist in the music industry and would like to continue to advance your career, be sure to apply for our next New Roots Weekend! Applications are free.
